Full process to attend International conference in different country: TAIWAN(Koahsiung) TO SCOTLAND(Glassgow)

 Hello everyone, 

Here is the whole process to proceed with the travel and registration to attend the conference in any country. I would like to explain the details of our travel to Scotland from Taiwan for WCNC 2022.

We received the acceptance of our paper on Dec 10th, 2022. We are informed to attend the conference which is scheduled for 4 days i.e., 26-29 MARCH 2023.


HERE WE GO WITH THE PROCESS


            Step 1: IEEE MEMBERSHIP 

      Based on the category under which you want to apply, you select the membership and apply. 

If you already have one, check the expiry date. I already have one but it got expired just a few days before I  was supposed to get registered for the conference.  

Note: Don't forget to apply the promo code when you apply for IEEE membership. I got 50% discount on the membership renewal purchase.  

 
1. Once you are done getting your membership, you have to get registered for the conference to attend the conference. It costs 9500 NTD for registration.
Note: There is another paper registration. In our case, we have 3 papers from our lab, so our professor registered for 3 papers of us in one registration itself. 

Step 2: Register for MOST 

1.  To apply for NSTC i.e., MOST, you need a recommendation letter from the professor. So, inform them in advance to provide.
 

Step 3: Taiwan bank international card

1. To spend your expenses in the other country, you need your card to be international. The whole process takes 1 week. So, better get it asap.

Step 4: Register for the conference regarding participation

1. Go to the conference website and check which kind of registration you wanna opt for the conference.
2. We opted for full member registration under a non-author category which costs 280 NTD. We are actually the authors of the paper, but still, we saved some amount by registering with the non-author category.

Step 5: VISA requesting letter

1. Go to the website and search for travel related information tab and find the option called "VISA REQUESTING LETTER".  visit:wcnc_2023_visa_requesting_letter
2. You are supposed to fill out a google form to get a letter from the related conference.

Step 6:  VISA APPLICATION 

1. Find the proper website to apply for a visa. For us, it is the UK. So, we filled out our form here:

Journal paper review process queries:

 1.  How many days does it take for the whole review process of a conference and a journal? A: For a conference, one has to check the website of the related conference to know the date of the final result.  For a journal, it depends on the Publication, and a rough analysis based on previous experience is as follows: Ex: TWC: 3 months,       TCOM: 3-4 months,       TIV:  1 month       TVT: 3 months  2.
