What is RIS, UAV and Good-put?

 UAV :

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, is an aircraft without any human pilot, crew, or passengers on board.

Two important types:

1. Fixed Wing UAV:

=> No vertical movement.

=> Moves curvilinear path at a certain height.

=> Less power consumption. So, we use this in a Power-limited temporal wireless network.

2. Rotary Wing UAV:

=> Multiple propellers and can hover over fixed locations.

Advantages:

1. Cost-effective.

2. Strong LOS links.

3. Enhances Coverage area.

4. Increases data rate.

5. Flexible deployment.

6. Fully controllable mobility.

Disadvantages:

1. Due to High-rise buildings, trees, and objects, UAV-Ground communication gets blocked.

2. Limited service duration.

3. Large path loss.

RIS:

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces is an array of low-cost and passive reflecting elements, each element independently reflects the incident EM waves after adjusting the phase of each passive element.

Advantages:

1. Cost-effective.

2. Increase QoS by reflecting the signals in the desired direction.

3. Can operate in FD without self-interference.

4. Increases data rate.

UAV-RIS Advantages:

1. Optimize system performance

2. Increases SE and EE

3. Provides the Joint design of BF gain: Active BF at UAV and Passive BF at RIS.

Good-put:

The number of useful information bits delivered by the network to the destination per unit of time. In the UAV-RIS  network,  the number of successful information bits delivered from UAV TO RIS in time.
